Julia Burness Jewellery

Designer Profile

Julia Burness

Having initially studied Classical Archaeology at university, Julia’s interest in digging up the past spills over into her beautiful jewellery designs. Intrigued by the juxtaposition of history in a contemporary setting, the essence of the Julia Burness Jewellery collections aims to bring back to life what may have once long been forgotten.

Julia’s passion for making jewellery started after visiting a jade market in Hong Kong. There, she fell in love with the ancient stone and the tradition of carving. With her interest sparked, Julia decided to take a leap of faith by going back to college to study Silver Smithing and Jewellery Design at Sir John Cass in London.

Julia now works from her studio in Hatton Garden, the heart of the jewellery industry in London where she designs and makes her collections. Constantly aware of the environment and her alchemical love for regeneration; Julia uses only recycled metals or artisanal gold.

The ethos of Julia Burness Jewellery

Julia Burness Jewellery aims to be as environmentally aware as possible. Each beautiful piece of the JBJ collections is made within the UK either with recycled metals or artisanal gold. Julia designs each collection, which is then cast before each piece is hand finished with care and attention to detail.
