Lace Appliqué

Wednesday, September 5th, 2012

As we dwell over the summer that barely was and enter a new season, it is time to have an update of the wardrobe, as the old, new and updated trends come out to play. At London Fashion Week A/W 2012 there was an array of trends that will be key to your autumn/winter collection. And the one I introduce to you today is Lace Appliqué.

So what is it?

Brought to our attention by the designs of Mulberry, Erdem and Moschino to name a few, Lace Appliqué is the art of applying decorative lace onto another material adding a delicacy and sophistication to any outfit. This season it makes a shift from the soft colours of spring to the warm colours of autumn, and everyone is catching on. Here’s a selection of my favourite pieces available on IndependentBoutique.com.

Jet Away With Jinty Jones

Friday, August 3rd, 2012

Well into the summer months and the weather has been changing more than we all change our underwear. Most of the country, in fact world, has been swept with Olympic fever. For those of you who haven’t and who have purposefully booked your holidays later this year, to escape the chaos and the rain, swimwear is sure to be on your mind.
It is fundamental when planning a holiday, whether home or abroad, at the beach or by the pool, when you are strutting your stuff and catching that tan, you want to stand out for all the right reasons.
New to IndependentBoutique.com is Jinty Jones Swimwear. The British designers reasonably priced collection albeit small, has something for everyone, but be quick, there is only a limited number available in each print. I have been that girl in a High Street costume that two or three girls are wearing, so this will sure to make your holiday that extra bit special whether you’ve stuck to your diet or not.

Red Bow Style Bikini with Giraffe Print Detail

This bold colour will look great when that tan has started to take full effect. The halterneck tie looks multi-coloured from a distance but up close intricate drawings of giraffes are printed on it. Adorable. And for those worried about strap marks, no need, these straps are detachable and there are side bones for support which makes me love it even more. The usual dilemmas I have have been solved in this one bikini, but wait there are more. It’s also available in brown with a lizard print detail.

Meet Our Bloggers – Rochelle Farquharson

Wednesday, July 4th, 2012

We’ve decided it’s time to get to know our lovely Guest Bloggers a little better! So today we’re chatting to Rochelle Farquharson about her favourite designers, why she began blogging, who inspires her and her plans for the future! So grab a nice big cuppa and take five minutes to get to know Rochelle…….

Being from the generation where I wasn’t glued to an X Box or DS I used to spend my time reading and writing and I haven’t stopped. I studied Creative Writing and Journalism at university and that is what I want to do. If it isn’t prose I am writing, it is blog pieces. My only aim is for people to enjoying reading my work as much as I enjoy writing it.

Now after that paragraph of clichés, let me introduce myself.

Hi, I’m Rochelle. I turn 25 in a few weeks, I just LOVE birthdays, I live far beyond my means for the sake of makeup and clothes and I was born to be a writer. As for my future, who knows? I want to be successful in anything I do, comfortable enough to be occasionally frivolous and spontaneous enough to not have any regrets. Read More…..

Guest Blogger Rochelle Farquharson Shares Her Opinion Of The BMI Scale

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

Models. Whether supermodels or plus size they have one thing in common, their weight versus their height falls into the unhealthy category of the BMI scale. For those of us who aren’t in the know, BMI (Body Mass Index) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women.
There has been much debate about models on the thinner side not being a good example, so much so that Madrid fashion week now restrict models who have a BMI of less than 18 (18.5- 24.9 is considered healthy) yet it seems these checks are not so vigorously done when models tip the higher end of these scales. Yes, they represent the ‘average’ woman, but doesn’t that just mean the average is overweight? Read More…..
