Shop Heron Design Studio :

How do you describe to people what you do and your design style?

My name is Dita and I am designer/owner of print and textile brand Heron Design Studio based in London. I am responsible for illustrations printed on our scarves as well as final colouring and composition. I am old school and I like the idea of hand drawn designs being digitally printed in quantities. It’s like making prints. Old Flemish masters of prints, M C Escher or Alfred Durer are my biggest inspiration.

What sort of comments do you get about your designs?

The comments from my friends and customers are positive. People seem to like my art and they like the idea of wearing it.

How do you describe to people what you do and your design style?

My garments are inspired by the desire to transcend physical limitations, and remind the wearer of her own hidden beauty, her unrealised inner potential. I design for women who love art and design.

What sort of comments do you get about your designs?

Fashion functions not just with the purpose of clothing the human body, but also creating a mood within the wearer. I get comments that the pieces are creative, artistic, and inspirational. I love the notion that fashion is art.  I get feedback from fashion stylists that the finish of the garments is of a high quality.

What is your background?

I was born in Derry, Northern Ireland. Passionate about all things Japanese,  I  studied Japanese and I went to live in Japan where I studied dress making skills, and the art of the kimono. I returned to the UK to complete a BA Fashion Design Realisation at London College of Fashion, and live in London.
