Trend Alert: Festival Fashion

Wednesday, April 17th, 2013

We’ve been incredibly jealous of all the celebrities galavanting around California at Coachella Festival this week. Basking in sunshine, music, fashion -  it’s been getting us in the mood for our own festival season where fringing and florals are standard attire. The British festival season is renowned for producing some classic looks and style icons from Sienna Miller’s boho beauty, Kate Moss’s rock star chic or Florence Welch’s ethereal glamour. Read on for our Summer festival hot picks:

Rocking Tees

Nothing says you’re ready to rock like a loose fit funky tee, just sling on a pair of jeans or some classic cut-offs and party all day (and night). This Microphone T-Shirt from Client London is worn here by rock royalty Pixie Geldof – a regular on the Summer festival circuit. And Alice takes a trip brings a dark twist to your average cat t-shirt giving you the gothic edge.

Trend Alert: Emerald Rules SS13

Friday, April 5th, 2013

It’s time we all got into the green. Emerald has been named THE colour to be seen in this Spring/Summer season. It works great with practically all skin tones and eye colours so it’s definitely a keeper! Give a subtle nod to the trend using punchy emerald accessories or go bold and dress head-to-toe – get your green on!

We begin with this amazing Molpe Jumpsuit from Tramp in Disguise‘s SS collection. The print was inspired by sea corals  and would be the perfect outfit for a spur of the moment sunny getaway. A quirky rubber Tiger Necklace from Caipora Jewellery and an ocean green Rossetti Croco from Cheet London complete the look. (more…)

Surviving The Fall

Tuesday, October 16th, 2012

Perhaps it is because I am from the North of England that I feel so much more at home in the colder months and find dressing for a dreary day much easier albeit if I have an umbrella! The dark nights and cold morning are upon us and so is the A/W wardrobe update. Here are my favourite autumn pieces from IndependentBoutique.com.

The fall of 2012 has seen the rise of the oversized overcoats – the bigger the better. This Waxed Cotton Batwing Raincoat from Kate Sheridan keeps things strict and streamline, never mind cosy and dry. It ticks all the current fashion boxes being knee length with deep pockets, the turned up sleeves add a complimentary contrast of colour. Androgynous chic perfectly executed. Read More…..

Autumn Days Are Here Again

Friday, August 31st, 2012

Autumn is almost upon us (although this weather would indicate we’re halfway through the rainy season) and it’s the perfect time for a wardrobe change. This time of year begs for thicker knits, boots and layering.

As much as I try to accept that summer is over, I still crave pretty sun dresses and lashings of lace and florals. I like to pair summery pieces with jeans and cosy cardigans to bring them from one season to the next. This lace dress by Minna is made for sunny days but proves to be a transitional piece when worn with navy blue trousers such as these by borne by Elise Berger. Finish off with ankle boots on a colder day or dainty loafers such these heeled ones by Rae Jones. Add a sweet vintage necklace to bring out the delicate antique nature of the camisole and this is an outfit for all seasons.
