5 Mins With British Jewellery Brand Zevar

Shop Zevar :

How do you describe to people what you do and your design style?

I am a jewellery entrepreneur seeking to introduce exotic South Asian designs to the Western market. Our emphasis is on using high quality materials like lapis lazuli, onyx, marcasite, quartz, Jade and cubic zircon in conjunction with sterling silver to achieve a superior level of presentation and offer the customer affordable luxury in the truest sense.

Zevar’s brand ethos is based around creating exotic yet affordable designs. I see a gap in the market for exotic silver jewellery that is affordable and can directly challenge the costume jewellery market.

What sort of comments do you get about your designs?

“Unique” and “exotic” is what I hear the most when I present my products. My audience in the UK is more familiar with minimalist and/or contemporary designs are excited to see the colours, materials and intricate metal-work that are core to my jewellery.

What is your background?

I started my career in the UK as a recruiter in the fashion industry and more recently I took a career break to bring up my young baby. When the time was right to re-engage professionally, I chose to pursue a childhood dream to start my own venture, but in a field I would thoroughly enjoy, rather than easier, more conventional option of a regular job. 5 Mins with British Clothing Brand Protected Species

Shop Protected Species :

How do you describe to people what you do and your design style?

Protected Species is a women’s performance outerwear brand fusing style-led design with extreme technical performance. The collection is crafted specifically for women and offers what we believe is a huge gap in the outerwear market; Jackets which use innovatively soft, feminine stretchable laminated fabric cut in iconic classic designs. The result? Truly Protective outerwear that is extremely versatile whether climbing a mountain in a monsoon or going to a wedding - the fusion of technical and design makes our collection perfect for both.

What sort of comments do you get about your designs?

Our customers overwhelmingly state that they wear their jackets everywhere they go which for us, as technical product design/developers, is brilliant! This was exactly our intention when we launched the brand 3 years ago and defines the large gap in the performance outerwear market we suffered from in our everyday lifestyles ourselves. The secret behind this is the fabric – it’s handle and appearance is very different to fabric used in other performance waterproof outerwear and our customers notice this and the flexibility it gives them instantly.

What is your background?

We are a team of three women and all our backgrounds in various ways have centred on technical outerwear and the great outdoors. My clothing career started at the London College of Fashion where I studied Product Development for the Fashion Industry. From there I have worked for various clothing brands in the sports and performance arena with the last (more...)

Shop Les Amies Anglaises :

How do you describe to people what you do and your design style?

I am the Founder and Creative Director of LES AMIES ANGLAISES, a niche womenswear label creating  limited edition Silk Tops. The inspiration behind my label is the infamous quote of A. Mcqueen : “ I am not big on women looking naive” so we aim to create a statement for each of our pieces for powerful, warriors creatures.

What sort of comments do you get about your designs?

“ Original, master pieces, powerful,  avant-gardist, anything but obvious “  – I am proud of these feedbacks because they are really into my  aesthetics.

What is your background?

I have been working within Fashion and Luxury Goods for the last 15 years, but never in the “ Creative “ area, ie designing, creating a collection etc... Nevertheless, I have been always a very creative person and this combined with my passion for Fashion and textile sooner than later pushed me to create my own Fashion world, ie my own Label !
